The echo of the slogans is loud and clear. As India goes with Anna, rallies and discussions continue. People from different walks of life are taking part, including young urban professionals who are taking time off their schedules to express their support. Indeed, many such young professionals are participating in the movement during their non-working hours and weekly offs.
Hear Sachin Inguk, an engineer by profession, “I come with all my friends and sometimes even with family members for the rally. I was also a part of the candlelight march that took place at Balgandharva Chowk. Apart from this, I have sent SMSes to all my contacts motivating them to voice their views.”
Speaking along similar lines, electronic engineer Sandeep Kachgunde says that he uses his holidays to participate in the movement. He says, “It feels good to be doing something worthy than just pub-hopping and having a good time with friends and family.”
Vikash Mishra, a software tester, tries to finish his day at work early to be a part of the rallies. Not only that, he has also tried to spread the message through social networking sites. He says, “Social networking sites have helped me a lot in spreading the message. We also have healthy discussions with friends and colleagues.” Amit Jain, a software professional, adds, “I have sent e-mails, text messages and even used social networking sites to support the
Jan Lokpal bill. We have also enacted plays to show our support and spread the message.”
Some are also opting for fund-raising to support those who are actively participating in the movement. Arjun Ojha, a business developer, says, “My friends and I have started fund-raising for the cause. The money is used to buy candles, water, posters and paints.”
Music acts as a great motivator, believe many. Hence, there are those who are learning dhol-taasha so that they can play it at the rallies and encourage more people to support the cause.
Kavita Shinde, a sales executive, is one such professional. “After my work, I practise dhol-taasha. I have been practicing in this for a week now. This music is powerful and very energetic.”
Anna Hazare has countless supporters from all across the nation and beyond. And, the number continues to increase with each passing day.
